William Augustus Chunn, Confederate soldier, was born 7 January 1840, near the French Broad River in Tennessee, lived in Cassville, Georgia, and died there in 1921. He served in the Georgia State Troops (1861-1862) as a 2nd Lieutenant (Company I, 1st Regiment, 1st Brigade), and as a private in the Georgia Infantry (1862-1865; Co. I, 40th Regiment).
